Insider Language that Excludes Non-Christian's
I recently ran across an article dealing with "christian jargon". It claims that the church can no longer effectively reach the unsaved with its Insider Language. It would seem that the new age church has been caught up in the "politically correct" movement.
Here are a few of the words that are considered incorrect for the church to use in the presence of unsaved persons. "We must stop saying and unlearn the words sinner, salvation, faith, Holy Spirit, repentance, testimony, confess and Savior", just to name a few of their more "uncomfortable" terms.
The article goes on to say that rather than talking about sin, we should discuss the nature of a "broken relationship" or better yet, that we have "offended God". Don't say born again, say "changed". Don't ever say you have a burden, say you are "concerned". Don't call it praying, call it "talking". Please don't call Jesus your Savior, call Him "God's Son".
One example given for a "good christian web site", was that the visitor could not tell if it was really a new age site, cause it was so down to earth. Wow, they camouflaged the gospel so well, it looks like a new age site!
They took a survey among unsaved persons and found that seven out of ten of them had no clue as to what John 3:16 means. Really, what a surprise that the unsaved should be so ignorant of scripture! (Personally, I think the real surprise is that three out of ten of them actually knew what it means!) These poll takers went on to say that fifty-two percent of unsaved persons polled in a particular country, didn't even know who Pontius Pilate was. My question is, why should we expect the unsaved to know a man that half the church world doesn't even know?
In a sad attempt to reach the lost, the new age church has altered the gospel to become more like the world, she offers the world another gospel. Paul said, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ." Galatians 1:6–7.
My good friend Stephen Leach, editor of the Sojourner newsletter, recently took a poll of his own asking, "What do you think is the most important issue facing the Pentecostal people?" Twenty-five percent said, "The spread of Liberalism." One of the main definitions given for liberalism, is broad–minded. Jesus said, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat" Matthew 7:13.
"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ" 2 Corinthians 11:3. The new age church is preaching another gospel
Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me" John 12:32. This includes all the christian jargon! It is after all the Bible, the Logos, the Word of God, it is Christ Himself ("And the Word was made flesh..."). Who are we to try to perfect that which God has perfected in His Son?
A friend of mine said, "the biggest threat that faced Noah and the Ark was not the wind or the waves, but the woodpecker! If that wood pecker had poked a hole in that Ark it would have sunk! Likewise, the biggest threat facing the Church today is not the wind or the waves of the world, but the woodpeckers from within!" There were a lot of woodpeckers around in Jesus' day, and Lord knows we have them now!
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" Hebrews 13:8. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;" Romans 1:16
