a-pol-o-get-ic (n.) — branch of theology that deals with the defense and proof of Christian doctrine.
The Apologists
1. The charges brought against the Christians caused the emergence of a new genre of Christian literature, the apology, taken from the greek apologia, meaning a speech for the defense. The authors of these works are known collectively as the Apologists, whose works were developed between 130 and 180 AD (an era frequently referred to as, the Age of the Apologists).
2. The first of these writers was Quadratus, probably an Athenian who in ca 125 wrote an apology addressed to emperor Hadrain. The work is now preserved only in fragments. Better known is the similar appeal of Aristides, another Athenian and a philosopher of sorts, who addressed his argument to Antoninus Pius in ca 140. Most famous of all is the Apology of Justin Martyr, a christian philosopher who apparently ran a school in Rome and wrote in the middle if the second century. Also included in this group are Melito of Sardis (writing 169 - 180), Athenagoras of whom nothing is know except his authorship of Supplication for the Christians (ca 177), and the bishop Theophilus of Antioch, who wrote the lengthy apology, To Autolycus.

Mending the Bible
"If any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city..." Revelation 22:19
A Young Earth
Surely, the honest and objective observer has no other recourse than to conclude that the earth-sun system has been carefully and intelligently designed by God for man. As it is written: "The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men"Psalm 115:16..
The Trinity God
God is One in Three persons, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) based upon what God has revealed about Himself in scripture. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" Matthew 28:19.
Do you know the basics of the Christian faith?
"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment." Hebrews 6:1-2
Can God make a rock so big He can't pick it up?
This question is representative of the type of paradoxes atheists use in attempts to prove that God cannot exist. The point is that God cannot do something that is a violation of His own existence and nature.
Christianity and Science
To the Christian, science is merely that branch of discovery that categorizes, discovers, and utilizes the knowledge woven into the fabric of the universe by a Sovereign, All Powerful, and Omniscient, Creator. Science is not the end of all things, but merely one of the means by which man may glorify God.
Could Noah's Ark Hold all the Animals?
One issue that is often raised against Christianity is Noah's Ark and the Flood. Did it really happen? Did the flood really cover the whole world? Is there enough water on earth to cover all the land? Could the ark really hold two of every kind of animal in the world?
Is Christianity the One True Religion?
Christianity is not just a religion; it is a relationship with God. It is a trusting in Jesus and what He did on the cross. Jesus did not fulfill the prophecies by accident. He was who He said He was: the only way.
Where did God come from?
The Bible says that He has always existed: "...even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" (Psalm 90:2). And, "Your throne is established from of old; Thou art from everlasting" (Psalm 93:2). Quite simply, God has no beginning and no end. So, where did God come from?
Apologetics
The Bible is 98½ percent textually pure. Through all the copying of the Biblical manuscripts of the entire Bible, only 1½% has any question about it. Nothing in all of the ancient writings of the entire world approaches the accuracy of the biblical documents. The 1½ percent that is in question does not affect doctrine. The areas of interest are called variants and they consist mainly in variations of wording and spelling.
Why is there Suffering in the World?
It is often asked why is there suffering in the world if God is all powerful and loving. Why doesn't He stop it? Can He or is He weaker than we think? There are different explanations for why God allows suffering, but none of them can satisfy everyone.
God would never send anyone to Hell?
The idea of a loving God sending people to hell for eternity is not easy to accept. Why would God, who is full of mercy and grace, send people to a place of torment for ever and ever for not trusting in Jesus even though they are nice people, or never heard of Jesus, or were sincerely trying to find God? Is that fair? Is that right?
Christianity is the only True religion?
Yes it is intolerant. In fact, it is very intolerant to say that Jesus is the way the truth and the life and that no one can get to God except through Him as Jesus Himself said in John 14:6.
